{"id":5929,"date":"2015-12-23T07:00:53","date_gmt":"2015-12-23T15:00:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/formtek.com\/blog\/?p=5929"},"modified":"2015-11-10T08:19:45","modified_gmt":"2015-11-10T16:19:45","slug":"big-data-market-on-target-to-exceed-50-billion-by-2019","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/formtek.com\/blog\/big-data-market-on-target-to-exceed-50-billion-by-2019\/","title":{"rendered":"Big Data: Market on Target to Exceed $50 billion by 2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Big Data, particularly Big Data software, is on target to become a $50 billion business by 2019. \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.idc.com\/getdoc.jsp?containerId=prUS40560115\">IDC reports<\/a> that Big Data as an industry is growing at a 23 percent growth rate.<\/p>\n<p>A forecast from International Data Corporation (IDC) sees the big data technology and services market growing at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 23.1 per cent over the 2014-2019 forecast period with annual spending reaching USD 48.6 billion in 2019.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the rapid growth, there are still factors that are holding back adoption. Barriers to adoption include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Security and Privacy<\/li>\n<li>Difficulty of collecting and managing data<\/li>\n<li>Changes in the regulatory industry<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.idc.com\/getdoc.jsp?containerId=PRF004445\">Jessica Goepfert<\/a>, Program Director at IDC, said that &#8220;the ability to leverage big data and analytics to develop an integrated view of customer activities and business operations will provide competitive differentiation to companies across industries&#8230; \u00a0Line of business and IT executives will need to approach these ongoing challenges with awareness, flexibility, adaptability, and responsibility.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Vertically, the industry segments where the largest spend for Big Data are currently happening (2014 figures) include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>$2.1 billion<\/strong> &#8211; Discrete Manufacturing<\/li>\n<li><strong>$1.8 billion<\/strong> &#8211; Banking<\/li>\n<li><strong>$1.5 billion<\/strong> &#8211; Process Manufacturing<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"lightsocial_container\"><div class=\"lightsocial_element\"><a class=\"lightsocial_a\"
