{"id":5999,"date":"2016-01-19T07:00:08","date_gmt":"2016-01-19T15:00:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/formtek.com\/blog\/?p=5999"},"modified":"2015-12-04T08:33:49","modified_gmt":"2015-12-04T16:33:49","slug":"business-disruption-most-businesses-expect-dramatic-changes-but-few-businesses-feel-prepared","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/formtek.com\/blog\/business-disruption-most-businesses-expect-dramatic-changes-but-few-businesses-feel-prepared\/","title":{"rendered":"Business Disruption:  Most Businesses Expect Dramatic Changes, But Few Businesses Feel Prepared"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Disruption is now the norm and is to be expected, say three-quarters of global senior executives <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kpmg.com\/us\/en\/issuesandinsights\/articlespublications\/press-releases\/pages\/few-firms-prepared-for-business-disruption.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">interviewed by KPMG<\/a>. \u00a0And those executives say the speed of change and disruption can only be expected to increase in the future. \u00a0But only 17 percent of companies say that they are prepared to address the expected volatility and are unsure of what path to take to counter disruptions.<\/p>\n<p>The KPGM report listed the\u00a0Top Five Potential Disruptors to businesses:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>71 percent<\/strong> &#8211; Requirement to respond to regulatory and legislative rules<\/li>\n<li><strong>63 percent<\/strong> &#8211; Increased security and cyber security<\/li>\n<li><strong>60 percent<\/strong> &#8211; Instantaneous data access from anywhere<\/li>\n<li><strong>58 percent<\/strong> &#8211; Digital and mobile workers and consumers<\/li>\n<li><strong>49 percent<\/strong> &#8211; Global access to talent and skills<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>As a counterbalance to potential disruption, some businesses are investing. \u00a063 percent are investing to beef up their cybersecurity. \u00a0One quarter are adopting cloud computing services like IaaS and PaaS. \u00a0And another quarter of businesses are investing in updates to their legacy systems.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/connect.kpmg.us\/news\/2015\/07\/steve-chase-one-of-consulting-s-top-25-for-2015-.html\" target=\"_blank\">Steve Chase<\/a>, KPMG\u2019s U.S. Advisory Management Consulting leader, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kpmg.com\/us\/en\/issuesandinsights\/articlespublications\/press-releases\/pages\/few-firms-prepared-for-business-disruption.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">said that<\/a> &#8220;the fastest-growing and the most profitable organizations are increasingly \u2013 and smartly \u2013 leveraging these disruptors to continually deploy new business models, accelerate decision-making, convert data into valuable knowledge and focus on the customer.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kpmgslant.co.uk\/contributors\/tudor-aw\/\" target=\"_blank\">Tudor Aw<\/a>, KPMG UK Head of Technology, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kpmg.com\/uk\/en\/issuesandinsights\/articlespublications\/newsreleases\/pages\/trio-of-disruptive-technologies-will-have-huge-impact-by-2017-says-kpmg.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">said that<\/a> &#8220;the sectors and the businesses that will enjoy greatest success\u2026 will be those prepared to take a chance on something new. That\u2019s not to say they should gamble on the next \u2018big thing\u2019 \u2013 but they shouldn\u2019t be afraid to try.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div
