Cloud vendors took in a total of $110 billion globally from the 12-month period ending in September 2015, according to an estimate by Synergy Research<\/a>. \u00a0That’s 28 percent growth over the previous period. \u00a0Public cloud revenues grew at 51 percent — with Amazon and Microsoft being big winners. \u00a0Private and hybrid cloud revenues came in next, followed by SaaS and public cloud hardware sales.<\/p>\n

Jeremy Duke<\/a>, analyst at Synergy Research Group, said that<\/a> “in many ways 2015 was the year when cloud became mainstream. Across a wide range of cloud applications and services we have seen that usage has now passed well beyond the early adopter phase and barriers to adoption continue to diminish.”<\/p>\n

John Dinsdale<\/a>, Synergy Research Group chief analyst, said\u00a0that “Cloud technologies are now generating massive revenues and high growth rates that will continue long into the future.” \u00a0Dinsdale told Datamation<\/a> that “Cloud has now passed way beyond the early adopter phase and is truly a mainstream phenomenon…\u00a0Cloud technologies are now generating massive revenues and high growth rates that will continue long into the future, making this an exciting time for IT vendors and service providers that focus on cloud.”<\/p>\n
