Here’s something you don’t hear everyday. \u00a0Instead of the standard hype, and despite being obviously bullish on the technology, Gartner is sending\u00a0out warnings<\/a> of big \u00a0challenges ahead that Internet of Things (IoT) projects will need to contend with.<\/p>\n

The Glow<\/strong><\/p>\n

Gartner speaks glowingly of the promise of IoT. \u00a0\u00a0For example, Roy Schulte<\/a>, vice president and distinguished analyst at Gartner, says\u00a0that<\/a>\u00a0“uses of the IoT that were previously impractical will increasingly become practical. \u00a0The IoT is relevant in virtually every industry, although not in every application. There will be no purely ‘IoT applications.’ Rather, there will be many applications that leverage the IoT in some small or large aspect of their work.”<\/p>\n

The Challenges<\/strong><\/p>\n

Gartner also foresees a number of tough challenges:<\/p>\n
