Another report <\/a>is out that corroborates the growing acceptance of Software as a Service (SaaS).
\n73 percent of companies say that they either already have implemented or plan to have in place within the next 18 months at least one SaaS application. The survey of 100 Fortune 500 executives was made by Kelton Research<\/a>.<\/p>\n

For good or for bad, SaaS is being called a disruptive option for business people that permits them to do an end run around IT departments that can’t roll out technology that they want now. The CIO article quotes one executive as saying that deploying SaaS is only “a credit card purchase away.” But actually the “end run” is becoming less common as IT departments are becoming more accepting.<\/p>\n

The report found that the top three reasons why people adopt SaaS are:
\n– Speed to Market — Quick Deployments, Updates and Provisioning
\n– Easier Maintenance
\n– Price — Only pay for the number of active users you actually have<\/p>\n

The main reservations that people have about SaaS are as follows:
\n– 56 percent worry that SaaS integration projects are more difficult compared to on-premise software
\n– 62 percent worry about the security of data being hosted somewhere other than behind their own firewall.<\/p>\n
