Many enterprises that value security have taken the path of adopting private-cloud PaaS frameworks. \u00a0But a recent report by Gartner<\/a> expects that this approach may lead to trouble. \u00a0In fact, the report estimates that as many as 80 percent of private-cloud PaaS initiatives will end in failure.<\/p>\n

Yefim V. Natis<\/a>, vice president and Gartner Fellow, said that “in the next three years, many self-managed private PaaS initiatives will fail to meet the IT organisation leadership\u2019s expectations of cloud characteristics. The tension between the forces in favour of private PaaS and those demanding the full public cloud experience will intensify as self-managed private cloud disappoints. \u00a0Success with a private cloud (including PaaS) requires a recognition of the essential cultural and organizational changes to IT organizations, as well as technology changes. \u00a0Lacking this understanding leads many organizations to stop their PaaS investment at the point of technology deployment \u2014 leading to disappointing results down the road.”<\/p>\n
