CIOs today are focused on two things: Big Data and analytics. \u00a0Investments are strong in both of these areas. \u00a0Security for defense, to defend against risks to the business, and big data and analytics for offense, to grow the business with innovation.<\/p>\n

A report by ESG Global<\/a> found that 63 percent of organizations are spending more on Business Intelligence (BI), analytics and Big Data solutions. \u00a0The only spending area for CIOs that has a higher priority is security. \u00a0The report found that one third think that big data will continue to drive their spending into IT 2017. \u00a0The only complicating fact is that more than one-third of businesses still lack the right skills for managing big data and analytics.<\/p>\n

A Gartner report agrees with the assessment<\/a> and found in their own survey that 39\u00a0percent of businesses say that Business Intelligence\u00a0and analytics IT spending top their priorities. \u00a0Gartner also <\/a>found that IT businesses spend $75 billion on security in 2015.<\/p>\n
