The blueprint going forward for digital medicine will be strongly based on predictive analytics and the Healthcare Internet of Things<\/a>, according to a new report by Technavio<\/a>. \u00a0Medicine based on data and predictive analytics is expected to provide assistance and have benefits in the areas of\u00a0value-based reimbursements, population health management, and rising regulatory demands.<\/p>\n

Integration of data between the many healthcare devices and systems will lead to better medicine. \u00a0The report identifies just a few of the existing information systems that when combined can lead to better and quicker decisions. These systems include\u00a0EHR, picture archiving and communication systems (PACS), radiology information systems (RIS), cardiac informatics, and other healthcare information systems.<\/p>\n

Steve Curd<\/a>, CEO of Wanda, wrote that<\/a> “analytics provide valuable insights into the health of an individual based on collected data and contextual information. Over time, as additional data is captured and available for analysis, these insights become more precise. In the world of value-based medicine, this type of data is critical for predicting the likelihood of adverse events so that caregivers have adequate time to enact proactive measures that enhance outcomes.”<\/p>\n

Amit Sharma<\/a>, lead analyst at Technavio, said that<\/a> “the major challenge for vendors in the market will be to integrate EHR, telemedicine, and other IT systems of hospitals seamlessly and to make devices interoperable.”<\/p>\n
