Increasingly businesses are adopting cloud and SaaS tools that promote business agility. \u00a0But the flip side of this benefit is that use of the cloud often bypasses standard corporate security. \u00a0Gartner estimates<\/a> that in five years that more than one quarter of all corporate data traffic will flow directly between users and cloud services, totally bypassing corporate security.<\/p>\n

Craig Lawson, Gartner vice president, said that “creating and maintaining a security policy on a per-cloud-service basis is more than a chore when hundreds of cloud services are in use — it quickly becomes a high source of risk.\u00a0The heart of the issue is that most organizations are moving to a relatively large ecosystem of cloud service providers, rather than a monoculture.”<\/p>\n

Gartner recommends <\/a>the following five steps for closing corporate cloud\u00a0security gaps introduced with the use of public cloud applications:<\/p>\n
