Rapid advances in data analysis and analytics are having a big impact on defining what the capabilities of Business Intelligence (BI). BI products from megavendors that have historically dominated the field\u00a0are being out-done by smaller niche players in the Business Intelligence market. \u00a0Niche players are growing at double-digit rates.<\/p>\n

Despite strong interest in BI, Investments in BI actually declined 4.13% in 2015 according to a Gartner report<\/a>. \u00a0Gartner predicts that in the next two years that technologies like Hadoop\/Big Data and next-generation discovery and analytics tools will become standard features of business intelligence tools, and within four years 80 percent of all enterprise reporting will utilize business intelligence and analytics.<\/p>\n

Viveca Woods<\/a>, former\u00a0Gartner consultant, said that<\/a> “Business intelligence and analytics is a top organizational priority, as data allows smart companies to quickly assess market conditions and outperform competitors. However by 2020, only 50 percent of chief analytics officers will have successfully created a narrative to respond to rapid change and link financial objectives to BI&A initiatives and investments. ”<\/p>\n
