A recent survey by Stack Overflow<\/a> found that Mac OS is now the top desktop for software developers, although slightly more than half of all developers still use some version of Windows.<\/p>\n

Both GNU\/Linux and Windows have been\u00a0slowly losing ground among developers. \u00a0The Linux desktop hasn’t changed much in years and remains a clunky alternative. \u00a0Windows 10 has made progress, but increasingly developers are choosing to use Macs. \u00a0The number of developers using a Windows platform for development is expected to drop below 50 percent over the next year.<\/p>\n

Mac OS X<\/strong> \u00a0– 26.2 percent
\nWindows 7<\/strong> – 22.5 percent
\nLinux<\/strong> – 21.7 percent
\nWindows 10<\/strong> – 20.8 percent
\nWindows 8<\/strong> – 8.4 percent
\nWindows XP<\/strong> – .4 percent
\nWindows Vista<\/strong> – .1 percent<\/p>\n
