Increasingly small and medium sized businesses (SMBs) are outsourcing their IT operations to SaaS vendors. \u00a0In the past businesses worried about poor\u00a0security and the loss of data when using cloud applications. \u00a0That thinking has now totally flipped. \u00a0Businesses now see SaaS providers as actually being able to provide\u00a0superior security compared to what they are able to do with small budgets and limited in-house staff.<\/p>\n

A study by Kaspersky Lab <\/a>found that 54 percent of SMBs now believe that it is likely that their\u00a0IT systems lack good levels of security, and 40 percent admit that they don’t have enough knowledge or experience to be able to appropriately secure their in-house IT systems. \u00a0Half of respondents to the Kaspersky study said that they are not able increase their IT budgets.<\/p>\n

Vladimir Zapolyansky<\/a>, Head of SMB Marketing, Kaspersky Lab, said that<\/a> “on the one hand, SMBs typically have a lack of resources, budgets and security expertise that can make them attractive to cybercriminals. On the other hand, increasingly complex security environments resulting from trends such as the volume of mobile devices they need to protect requires action. This makes it all the more important to spend budgets wisely and look at other options for remaining vigilant and getting the protection they need, and by taking a SaaS approach to security, SMBs can take advantage of endpoint security solutions without having the hefty budgets of enterprise counterparts.\u201d<\/p>\n
