Businesses are slowly migrating to mobile. \u00a0The emphasis with that statement is on the word ‘slowly’. \u00a0Despite the demand by customers, employees and clients\u00a0on mobile tools to enable a work-anywhere environment, businesses are not transforming\u00a0that quickly.<\/p>\n

A recent Gartner report found that employers are still mostly providing their workers with desktop PCs as their work tool rather than mobile devices.<\/p>\n

Mikako Kitagawa<\/a>, Gartner principal research analyst, said that<\/a> “in the era of mobility, it comes as something of a surprise that corporate usage of smartphones and tablets is not as high as PCs, even when the use of personally owned devices is taken into account. While it\u2019s true that the cost of providing mobile devices can quickly escalate, proper usage of mobile devices can increase productivity, which can easily justify the extra costs… \u00a0The low adoption of corporate-issued mobile devices underlines the fact that large numbers of personally owned mobile devices are used in the workplace. In fact, more than half of employees who used smartphones at work rely solely on their personally owned smartphones.”<\/p>\n
