{"id":6998,"date":"2016-12-22T11:45:36","date_gmt":"2016-12-22T19:45:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/formtek.com\/blog\/?p=6998"},"modified":"2016-12-22T13:51:37","modified_gmt":"2016-12-22T21:51:37","slug":"formtek-and-alfresco-visual-version-management-with-the-formtek-version-browser","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/formtek.com\/blog\/formtek-and-alfresco-visual-version-management-with-the-formtek-version-browser\/","title":{"rendered":"Formtek and Alfresco: Visual Version Management with the Formtek Version Browser"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.alfresco.com\/partners\/formtek\">Formtek <\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/formtek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/VersionBrowser23.pdf\">released version 2.3<\/a> of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.alfresco.com\/partners\/solutions\/formtek-version-browser-extension\">Version Browser<\/a> for Alfresco 5.1 earlier this week. \u00a0The Formtek Version Browser is an extension to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.alfresco.com\/products\/enterprise-content-management\/one\">Alfresco One<\/a>\u00a0ECM that enables easy visual comparisons of versioned documents.<\/p>\n<p>The biggest addition to this release of the Version Browser is the ability to do side-by-side version comparison. \u00a0The screenshot below shows version 2 of a document in the left view panel and version 1 of the same document on the right. \u00a0The two viewers are independent and allow you to zoom, pan or move to any page of the document. \u00a0It is also possible to open the same version in each of the two viewers. \u00a0The Version Browser\u00a0allows easy comparison of any two versions.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6999\" src=\"http:\/\/formtek.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/VBComparison.png\" alt=\"vbcomparison\" width=\"1898\" height=\"949\" srcset=\"https:\/\/formtek.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/VBComparison.png 1898w, https:\/\/formtek.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/VBComparison-300x150.png 300w, https:\/\/formtek.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/VBComparison-768x384.png 768w, https:\/\/formtek.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/VBComparison-1024x512.png 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1898px) 100vw, 1898px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Features of the Version Browser include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>File Support<\/strong> &#8211; Office documents, PDF, and images. \u00a0Additional file formats can easily be supported. \u00a0For example, add the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.alfresco.com\/partners\/solutions\/formtek-engineering-data-management\">Formtek EDM<\/a> extension to view DWG and other AutoCAD file formats.<\/li>\n<li><strong>No downloads needed<\/strong> &#8211; Detailed visual previews of each version eliminate the need to download specific versions for off-line comparison.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Full Functional Viewer<\/strong> &#8211; The Version Browser viewer supports paging, zoom and pan, and full screen maximization. \u00a0Search and find text in the version.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Delete<\/strong> &#8211; With appropriate permissions, any version of the document can be deleted.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Restore Versions<\/strong> &#8211;\u00a0Easily restore a previous version of the document.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Undo<\/strong> &#8211; Remove the current version and revert to the previous version<\/li>\n<li><strong>Unique Version Metadata<\/strong> &#8211; Each version retains metadata properties with values from\u00a0the time when the version was active.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Track Ownership and see Version History<\/strong> &#8211; Quickly review version history and find out who changed what and when.<br \/>\nEven more detailed information is available via auditing and can be viewed and searched with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.alfresco.com\/partners\/solutions\/formtek-auditing-extension\">Formtek Auditing Extension<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Download PDF Rendition<\/strong> &#8211; Any version of the document can be downloaded as a PDF rendition. \u00a0This is available from an option on view panel. \u00a0An additional PDF action can be added to the Version Browser and to other pages of Alfresco Share with the <a href=\"http:\/\/formtek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/PDFRendering23.pdf\">Formtek PDF Rendering<\/a> extension. With PDF Rendering you can download watermarked version copies.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Current Version<\/strong> &#8211; Easily identify the most current release of a document<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For more
