{"id":7409,"date":"2017-06-05T07:00:40","date_gmt":"2017-06-05T15:00:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/formtek.com\/blog\/?p=7409"},"modified":"2017-04-24T19:05:28","modified_gmt":"2017-04-25T03:05:28","slug":"data-security-well-intentioned-employees-frequently-bypass-data-security","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/formtek.com\/blog\/data-security-well-intentioned-employees-frequently-bypass-data-security\/","title":{"rendered":"Data Security: Well-Intentioned Employees Frequently bypass Data Security"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Jobs are increasingly putting stress on employees to work their jobs 24\/7. \u00a0Workplace pressures\u00a0sometimes can make employees take\u00a0risks that might jeopardize the security of their information they deal with in their business, and ignore data security best practices.<\/p>\n<p>A recent survey by Dell found that 75 percent of employees say that it is OK to share sensitive, confidential or regulated information given the following situation:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Told to do so by a manager<\/li>\n<li>Sharing with a person who is thought to be authorized to see the information<\/li>\n<li>In cases where the risk of sharing is low and the benefits to the company may be high<\/li>\n<li>If sharing information could result in helping the person more effectively do their job<\/li>\n<li>If sharing information could help the recipient do their job more effectively<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/en.community.dell.com\/members\/dell_2d00_brett-h\">Brett Hansen<\/a>, vice president at Dell, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dell.com\/learn\/us\/en\/uscorp1\/press-releases\/2017-04-20-dell-end-user-security-survey-highlights-unsafe-data-security-practices-in-the-workplace\">said that <\/a>&#8220;when security becomes a case-by-case judgement call being made by the individual employee, there is no consistency or efficacy. These findings suggest employees need to be better educated about data security best practices, and companies must put procedures in place that focus first and foremost on securing data while maintaining productivity.&#8221;<\/p>\n<div class=\"lightsocial_container\"><div class=\"lightsocial_element\"><a class=\"lightsocial_a\"
