2008 — Year of Acceptance for OS<\/strong>
\nAnother survey is in, this time from Forrester Research<\/a>, and the results point again to very high acceptance and usage of Open Source in enterprises. Whether it was the economy or just better understanding, the percentage of enterprises who have
\nadopted components of Open Source software in 2008 is way up. Nearly all enterprises are reporting at least some limited use of open source.<\/p>\n

The next set of interesting numbers to look at are the percentage of enterprises running primarily\/exclusively on Open Source. The Forrester survey found that 22 percent of companies are doing just that now.<\/p>\n

– 92 percent of Open Source users think that OS has met or exceeded their expectations for Software Quality
\n– 70 percent of users are planning to increase their usage of OS in the future<\/p>\n

The report finds that people see not only cost benefits by adopting Open Source, they also found that OS makes IT groups more innovative and able to more readily adapt to changing technologies.<\/p>\n
