By 2021, video is expected to dominate all content on the internet.<\/p>\n

In June Cisco updated their forecast <\/a>for the volume of Internet traffic in 2021 and estimates for the number of internet-connected users. \u00a0Total Internet data transfer is expected to triple and exceed 3.3 zettabytes with a total of 4.6 billion users. \u00a0But beyond users, the Internet of Things (IoT) and Machine-to-Machine \u00a0(M2M) connections is rapidly growing and will account for half of all connections by 2021 — 27 billion devices will have access to the Internet.<\/p>\n

But the content that will take up most of Internet traffic \u00a0is video. By 2021, video is expected to account for more than 80 percent of the total IP traffic. \u00a0Live video streaming will make up 13 percent of the video traffic. Users will view 3 trillion videos every month or a million video minutes per second. VR and AR traffic is expected to jump 20 times by 2021 and will reach 1 percent of global entertainment traffic.<\/p>\n
