Forrester Research is recommending <\/a>that customers ditch any software labeled as ‘enterprise’.\u00a0 Why?\u00a0 Software bloat and myriads of features that many customers don’t use.\u00a0 Not only that, Forrester says that brand-name software from big vendors is often overpriced and overly complex.<\/p>\n

Part of the problem has come about because of the recent wave of software vendor mergers and consolidation.\u00a0 Vendors often try to meld multiple products together that came from different roots and that were developed with very different styles and approaches.\u00a0 The resultant new app may have features, but can be burdened with twists and quirks that were made to make the underlying software work together.<\/p>\n

As vendors add ever more features to their products, there is also a tendency to lose focus on the original intent of the software product.
\nForrester says vendors should consider adopting agile development methods and be more focused in delivering smaller and meaner apps.<\/p>\n
