Content Management systems are central repositories for enterprise and organizational data. \u00a0These huge repositories of data can be thought of as “information lakes”<\/a>. \u00a0Data repositories are expected to grow enormously as businesses increase the amount of data and content that they collect and measure. \u00a0To make the management and usability of large data repositories easier, people are considering how artificial intelligence could be applied to help.<\/p>\n

Mark Barrenechea<\/a>, OpenText CEO,\u00a0said<\/a> \u00a0“we\u00a0think this is one of the big premises for artificial intelligence. … The [data] lake should be able to learn on its own through training algorithms to find better data and deeper insights that drive business goals.”<\/p>\n

A recent article by Ron Miller for TechCrunch<\/a> looked at how some Content Management systems are beginning to approach Artificial Intelligence.<\/p>\n

Aaron Levie<\/a>, Box CEO, said that<\/a> “I think it\u2019s [artificial intelligence] going to be more fundamental than the cloud in terms of its impact across all enterprise software, but specifically in our space, cloud content management. The only way we are going to be able to make sense of all this data and to extract more and more value from it is through machine learning and artificial intelligence. There is simply no other way to keep up with the growing [deluge] of data, as well as the use cases around this content.”<\/p>\n

Jeetu Patel<\/a>, Box\u2019s SVP of Platform and chief strategy officer, said that<\/a> “in the next five years, the way people engage and interact with content will be completely different than the last 25 years with new ways to engage and extract meaning [from content]\u2026”<\/p>\n
