Search continues to evolve. Voice search<\/a> is now becoming an important way to initiate searches.\u00a0Search assistants like Alexa, Siri and Cortana are popularizing its use. \u00a0Voice search is quick and the results are surprisingly accurate. 20 percent of searches<\/a> now on mobile devices are initiated by voice.<\/p>\n

Forbes declared 2017 as the year of voice search<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Charles Dawes, TiVo Senior Director of Marketing, said that<\/a> “it can take more than 10 clicks to find the search. Voice search is a quick and simple way to get to content more easily.”<\/p>\n

In 2012 voice search had a 20 percent error rate<\/a>, especially when used by voices with accents and inflections. \u00a0In 2016, the error rate of voice search was reduced to 8 percent, and the accuracy continues to improve.<\/p>\n

Youssef Squali<\/a>, analyst at SunTrust Robinson Humphrey, said that<\/a> “we estimate that voice search accounts for about 10% of all search queries today, yet we peg the revenue associated with it at less than 2% in 2017. This dichotomy can be explained by the fact that a disproportionately larger percentage of voice searches today are for noncommercial queries (playing music, managing alarms, weather, general interest questions).”<\/p>\n
