As business migration to the cloud increases, so do the the daily reports of cyber security breaches.<\/p>\n

A recent study by Corero Network Security<\/a>, for example, found that more than a third of UK’s critical infrastructure organisations have not met basic cyber security standards issued by the UK government.”<\/p>\n

Josh Douglas<\/a>, Raytheon’s chief strategy officer for cyber services, said that<\/a> businesses “inherently believe they get all these magical properties of security by moving (to the cloud), and it just doesn’t happen… As we tell our clients, cloud computing puts your information on someone else’s computer. So it’s vital to protect the cloud exactly as you would your own servers. Regardless of whether organizations are securing data using on-premises or cloud-based technology\u2026 organizations need to balance protecting privacy and understanding how their employees interact with critical business data and intellectual property.”<\/p>\n

Jay Heiser<\/a>, research vice president at Gartner, said that<\/a> “concerns about cloud service provider security have become counterproductive, and are distracting CIOs and CISOs from establishing the organizational, security and governance processes that prevent cloud security and compliance mistakes. In fact, Gartner predicts that, through 2020, 95 percent of cloud security failures will be the customer\u2019s fault.”<\/p>\n
