Enterprise Content Management<\/a> or ECM was first coined in 2000 <\/a>by the Association for Information and Image Management (AIIM)<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The original definition of ECM was:\u00a0“Enterprise content management is the technology used to capture, manage, store, preserve, and deliver content and documents related to organizational processes.”<\/p>\n

Over the years the definition has changed frequently, each time becoming longer (and longer) and more inclusive of new technologies.<\/p>\n

Here we can see from Google trends the usage of the term Enterprise Content Management:<\/p>\n

More recently, terms like “Content Service Platforms (CSP)” and “Digital Transformation” are being used more frequently.<\/p>\n

Gartner, for example, has recently changed the name of their Magic Quadrant for ECM vendors<\/a> to a Content Service Magic Quadrant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
