As businesses adopt new technologies like IoT and analytics, they also find that they are developing new software to take advantage of those new capabilities. Many feel a pressure to innovate, with pressure coming from both within their companies and also from competing businesses.\u00a0 A survey by Testplant called\u00a0Application Crisis Research<\/a> found that 70 percent of businesses say that they are under pressure to innovate.<\/p>\n

The problem is that the pressure to innovate is driving many businesses to release software that has been rapidly developed and often barely tested.\u00a0 About half say that they are releasing software without sufficient testing and 40 percent say that they are releasing software with no testing at all.<\/p>\n

John Bates<\/a>, CEO of Testplant, said that<\/a> “it is reaching a crunch point for businesses, under pressure to provide the most amazing services and apps to consumers, and development teams facing internal and competitive pressures, as organizations rush towards digital transformation. Companies are struggling to keep up with the pace of digitalization and there will be a quality toll unless businesses see the imperative to completely re-think their traditional development processes and move towards more automated, intelligent solutions and tools.\u201d<\/p>\n
