Alibaba Ranks as Third Largest IaaS Platform."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The top Cloud Services IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service) lead comes as no surprise: Amazon AWS. Microsoft is in the second spot.\u00a0 But third position isn&#8217;t occupied by Google &#8212; it&#8217;s China-based Alibaba. That&#8217;s according to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gartner.com\/en\/newsroom\/press-releases\/2017-09-27-gartner-says-worldwide-iaas-public-cloud-services-market-grew-31-percent-in-2016\">report by Gartner<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The third-quarter report from Gartner on Public Cloud Services had these other findings:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) is expected to grow faster than any other cloud service at 36.6 percent annual growth<\/li>\n<li>Software as a Service (SaaS) is growing at a rate of 21 percent annually<\/li>\n<li>The total of all Cloud Services are expected to grow at a rate of 18.5 percent in 2017<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Gartner <a href=\"https:\/\/www.datamation.com\/cloud-computing\/public-cloud-market-to-swell-to-411-billion-in-2020.html\">noted that<\/a> &#8220;SaaS revenue is expected to grow 21 percent in 2017 to reach $58.6 billion. The acceleration in SaaS adoption can be explained by providers delivering nearly all application functional extensions and add-ons as a service. This appeals to users because SaaS solutions are engineered to be more purpose-built and are delivering better business outcomes than traditional software is.&#8221;<\/p>\n<div class=\"lightsocial_container\"><div class=\"lightsocial_element\"><a class=\"lightsocial_a\"
