Businesses will spend $1.7 trillion by the end of 2019 trying to transform themselves to become digital operations, according to a forecast from IDC<\/a>. But as many as three-quarters of those businesses will fail to meet their digital objectives. The most frequently cited reason why businesses fail is lack of technical innovation.<\/p>\n

A survey by Commvault<\/a> found that most IT executives and personnel don’t think their businesses are ready for digital transformation.
\nThe survey found the following areas to be problems:<\/p>\n

Lack of Bandwidth<\/strong> – IT is too busy with day to day operations to have time to think about innovation
\nLack of Skill sets<\/strong> – 50 percent of IT say that they must acquire new skill sets to stay relevant
\nLack of Technology<\/strong> – Two-thirds say that they are not prepared for the cloud or data management
\nLack of Vision<\/strong> – 40 percent say their company doesn’t have a formal plan for digital transformation
\nLack of Data Access<\/strong> – 60 percent of IT say they have access to less than half their organization’s data.<\/p>\n
