{"id":8052,"date":"2018-02-06T07:00:10","date_gmt":"2018-02-06T15:00:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/formtek.com\/blog\/?p=8052"},"modified":"2017-12-19T09:52:21","modified_gmt":"2017-12-19T17:52:21","slug":"smart-hospitals-digitizing-the-health-care-experience","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/formtek.com\/blog\/smart-hospitals-digitizing-the-health-care-experience\/","title":{"rendered":"Smart Hospitals: Digitizing the Health Care Experience"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hospitals are are adopting digital technologies in an effort to modernize, to become more efficient operationally, and most importantly, to provide better patient care.\u00a0 They are attempting to become what some are calling &#8220;smart hospitals.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/store.frost.com\/future-of-smart-hospitals.html\">Frost &amp; Sullivan<\/a> says that by 2025, 10% of global hospitals will be in the process of implementing a smart hospital initiative. This year $11 billion will be spent by hospital trying to become &#8220;smart.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The Frost report said that &#8220;Smart hospitals will enable better quality of care with personalized approaches and reduced medical errors to achieve better patient outcomes.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The report predicts that four key areas will be part of the smart hospital initiative:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Pharmacy Automation<\/li>\n<li>Mobile Asset Tracking<\/li>\n<li>Data Analytics<\/li>\n<li>Cloud Computing<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ww2.frost.com\/research\/industry\/transformational-health\/visionary-healthcare\/siddharth-shah\/\">Siddharth Shah<\/a>, analyst at Frost &amp; Sullivan, said that &#8220;the two largest challenges obstructing hospitals from achieving the smart hospital vision are inter-operability and cyber-security. To truly achieve a &#8216;smart&#8217; status by deriving intelligent insights, various devices, systems and networks in the hospital must &#8216;talk&#8217; to one another in ways that are coherent and complete for a holistic analysis. Digitization brings in additional vulnerabilities in a hospital for hackers to target, making cyber-security a challenge.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"lightsocial_container\"><div class=\"lightsocial_element\"><a class=\"lightsocial_a\" href=\"http:\/\/digg.com\/submit?url=https%3A%2F%2Fformtek.com%2Fblog%2Fsmart-hospitals-digitizing-the-health-care-experience%2F&amp;title=\"
