{"id":8089,"date":"2018-02-20T07:00:08","date_gmt":"2018-02-20T15:00:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/formtek.com\/blog\/?p=8089"},"modified":"2018-01-02T08:13:12","modified_gmt":"2018-01-02T16:13:12","slug":"robotics-businesses-to-invest-heavily-in-robotic-automation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/formtek.com\/blog\/robotics-businesses-to-invest-heavily-in-robotic-automation\/","title":{"rendered":"Robotics: Businesses to Invest Heavily in Robotic Automation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Global spending on robotic automation is growing at a rate of more than 18 percent annually.\u00a0 That includes robotic hardware, software and services.\u00a0 2017 robotic spending was $97 billion and will grow to $230 billion by 2021, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.idc.com\/getdoc.jsp?containerId=prUS42880417\">according to IDC<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/idc-community.com\/manufacturing\/manufacturing-value-chain\/top_10_predictions_for_robotics_2017_2020\">IDC predictions for the robotics industry includ<\/a>e:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>30 percent of robotic applications will be &#8220;as a service&#8221; by 2019<\/li>\n<li>30 percent of large companies will introduce a Chief Robotics Officer role by 2019<\/li>\n<li>35 percent of robotics positions will be vacant and salaries for robotic positions will increase by 60 percent because of lack of skilled workers by 2020<\/li>\n<li>By 2020, the government will start to introduce legislation to help preserve jobs and address security, safety and privacy<\/li>\n<li>By 2020, robots will be faster by a factor of 3 and be designed to work closer with humans<\/li>\n<li>By 2020, 40 percent of robots will be connected to a central shared intelligence that will enable a factor of 2 improvement in overall efficiency<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.idc.com\/getdoc.jsp?containerId=PRF004860\">Jing Bing Zhang<\/a>, research director at IDC, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.idc.com\/getdoc.jsp?containerId=US42379618\">said that<\/a> &#8220;the advancement of robotics technology has entered into a new era of robotics with embedded and\/or cloud-based artificial intelligence. In this new era of Robotics 3.0, intelligent robots are characterized by their ubiquitous sensing and connectivity, cyber-physical fusion, autonomous capabilities (such as cognition, decision making, and learning and adaptation), and more human-friendly multi-mode interaction. Leading robotics technology vendors are already racing to develop and incorporate artificial intelligence capabilities into their product road map in order to stay ahead of the competition.&#8221;<\/p>\n<div class=\"lightsocial_container\"><div class=\"lightsocial_element\"><a class=\"lightsocial_a\"
