Digitalization<\/a> is affecting all industries. Supply chain planning and fulfillment is one area that is beginning to see the changes. Digital methods are increasingly being used by manufacturers, distributors and retailers to become more efficient.\u00a0 A survey by Gartner<\/a> found that 65 percent of supply chain professions think that the key to competitive advantage in the supply chain is better technology.<\/p>\n

C. Dwight Klappich<\/a>, research vice president at Gartner, said that<\/a> “there is no doubt that deploying innovative technology can improve efficiency and customer service, and can help raise maturity and transform supply chains. For example, 90% of companies operating at stages four or five maturity levels outperform their peers, and many are considered industry leaders.”<\/p>\n

IDC recently released some trends<\/a> in supply chain management that they are forecasting for the next few years.\u00a0 These include:<\/p>\n
