Global IT spending increased in 2017 and is expected to reach $3.7 trillion in 2018, an increase of 4.5 percent over 2017, according to Gartner<\/a>.\u00a0 The areas in IT that are driving growth are blockchain, Internet of Things (IoT), digital business, and Artificial Intelligence (AI).<\/p>\n

Enterprise software is expected to grow 9.5 percent this year and 8.4 percent in 2019 to reach $421 billion. Organizations will increase their spending on applications, particularly those that are delivered as software as a service.\u00a0 SaaS application categories that are being adopted include financial management systems (FMS), human capital management (HCM), and analytic applications.<\/p>\n

John-David Lovelock<\/a>, research vice president at Gartner, said that<\/a> “spending on AI for customer experience and revenue generation will likely benefit from AI being a force multiplier \u2014 the cost to implement will be exceeded by the positive network effects and resulting increase in revenue.”<\/p>\n
