The general public in the US has been satisfied with their understanding of Artificial Intelligence.\u00a0 About four fifths say that they have a positive opinion of Artificial Intelligence, according to a poll by Gallup<\/a>.\u00a0 But there is a worry too.\u00a0 Three quarters say that AI is going to eliminate more jobs than it will create, and that this will result in an even greater disparity of high wage earners and low ones.<\/p>\n

People displaced from their current jobs worry that they’ll be able to get the proper training or education to be able to advance to a new career.\u00a0 The Gallup poll found that only 18 percent felt confident that they’d be able to get a comparable job should their job be displaced.<\/p>\n

Matthew Sigelman<\/a>, CEO of Burning Glass Technologies, said on a panel at Northeastern University\u00a0<\/a>that “if our frame of debate is around job stability, then AI is a deep threat. It is replacing human activity in a whole array of jobs and in some cases the majority of certain kinds of jobs. But if our frame of discussion is around job or career mobility, AI is a tool that can unlock a huge amount of opportunity.\u201d<\/p>\n
