Small and Medium-size businesses (SMB) are seeing value in adopting technology.\u00a0 SMBs will spend more than $600 billion this year on new technology, especially in the area of digital transformation, according to a report by IDC<\/a>.\u00a0 That’s an increase in spending by more than 4.9 percent over 2017.\u00a0 The split between spending on hardware, software and IT services is pretty equal, each taking about 30 percent of the total with the rest going towards business services.<\/p>\n

Ray Boggs<\/a>, vice presidentat IDC, said that “SMBs around the world are increasingly interested in investing in resources to improve employee productivity and improve their competitive positions. SMBs, especially smaller ones, have immediate tactical needs to sharpen performance. They are also looking to coordinate resources in a meaningful way. For many this will be an important step in their Digital Transformation (DX).”<\/p>\n

Luis Murguia<\/a>, global senior vice president at SAP, said that<\/a> “in Olympic sports, gold medalists win the attention and excitement of the crowd. However, the reality is that behind the glamour of a gold medal, there are years of planning, training and hard work. The same is true with the Digital Transformation process. Optimized digital experiences for customers can only be created if the SMB has a steady timeline of digitizing their operating processes (e.g.: the warehouse pick lists, the return processes, etc.).”<\/p>\n
