Content Services Platform (CSP) is a term that’s recently being used as a replacement to Enterprise Content Management (ECM).\u00a0 It refers to a software collaboration system where users can create, share, store and collaborate on audio, video, and electronic file content.<\/p>\n

Gartner was behind the change in terminology.\u00a0 The change from ECM to CSP was announced with Gartner’s 2017 CSP Magic Quadrant<\/a>. Gartner’s definition of CSP is\u00a0“a set of services and microservices, embodied either as an integrated product suite or as separate applications that share common APIs and repositories, to exploit diverse content types and to serve multiple constituencies and numerous use cases across an organization.”<\/p>\n

The name change represents a move “from self-contained systems and repositories to open services.”\u00a0 Further, Gartner explains that\u00a0“content technology markets are evolving towards three areas: platforms, applications and components.”<\/p>\n

In October 2018, Gartner released<\/a> an updated CSP Magic Quadrant.\u00a0 Gartner estimates that the global CSP market was $9.6 billion in 2017.<\/p>\n
