The abundance of data storage and methods for analyzing data are driving enormous changes not only in IT, but across all parts of businesses spanning all industries. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here are five trends that we can expect to see in 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shifting Job Roles<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Technology is simplifying and making accessible software to all parts of the business, not just IT. Self-service cloud-based solutions is a big reason for this trend. Business units are increasingly responsible for setting the direction of IT investments and the front-line usage of software applications. IT in turn will likely shrink and focus more on data management spanning multiple business units and applications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Cloud will Take on the Central Role for Managing Data<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

New software purchases are now typically cloud-based solutions while older legacy hard-to-replace systems remain on-premise. As big tech companies like Amazon, Microsoft and SAP focus their efforts on cloud solutions, it is only a matter of time before legacy apps will be forced to migrate to the cloud.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

AI is Poised for Rapid Growth<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

2019 will be a year that will see extensive experimentation with using AI across many industries. Whether AI can live up to the type will be severely tested this year. Gartner found that almost half of companies <\/a>will be experimenting with AI over the next couple of years, and the fear of missing out is causing even more businesses to feel the need to join in. Early successes suggest that the benefits of AI and ML technology when applied smartly can have huge benefits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Data Ethics<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last year saw a focus on privacy laws, like the GDPR in Europe. Businesses that come under fire for data breaches or mismanagement are finding that they can see significant hits to their brand. Other businesses will see data ethics as a differentiator, a way to show that their customers are valued and that their privacy is respected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

More Data<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The growth in the amount of data that businesses collect is increasing daily. As data from IoT, new processes, software, devices, and systems is captured and retained, the need to get a better grasp on how to manage and effectively analyze data can only become more important.
