In 2008, Gartner predicted<\/a> that global IT spending would reach $3.6 trillion. IT spending has been hovering at that level over the last decade. Shortly after the 2008 prediction, we were hit with a global recession. Then again in 2011 <\/a>followed again in 2012<\/a>, Gartner was targeting $3.6 billion for global IT spending.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2014, Gartner predicted that global IT spending would grow to $3.75 <\/a>billion. 2015 and 2016<\/a> saw declines in IT spending.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2012, Gartner’s Richard Gorden said that <\/a>\u00a0“while the challenges facing global economic growth persist — the eurozone crisis, weaker US recovery, a slowdown in China — the outlook has at least stabilized.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That rationale for what to expect isn’t that much different seven years later with the 2019 Gartner forecast. With trade instabilities and an uncertain economy for China, vice president at Gartner,
John-David Lovelock<\/a>, said that<\/a> “despite uncertainty fueled by recession rumors, Brexit, and trade wars and tariffs, the likely scenario for IT spending in 2019 is growth.” Gartner predicts that global IT spending will reach $3.7 billion in 2019.<\/p>\n
