Artificial Intelligence (AI) seems to be applied everywhere now and its presence is only expected to become ever more prevalent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

AI is an expansive field and there are many different types of AI and multiple ways of trying to classify the different techniques.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For example, Strong versus Weak AI<\/a><\/em>. Weak AI applies to an algorithm that focuses on a very narrow field or topic. This might be a game or a problem in which rules are tightly defined so that the algorithm has data about all possible situations that might occur. This contrasts with Strong AI where an algorithm may continually come up with and need to respond to situations with considerably different parameters than what it has seen before.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Recently Cognilytica<\/a>, an analyst company specializing in the field of AI, came up with a way to classify the over 3000 different AI vendors that they track. They came up with the following four categorizations:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
