The world of computing still depends on web browsers, and the heart of web browsers are HTML, Javascript and CSS. Tools, libraries and frameworks for working with client-side Javascript come and go. It’s painful to know that your web-app investments of today will be outdated five years later or maybe even sooner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since its initial release in 2010 by Google, Angular has ridden the wave and been ranked as the most popular JS framework. But more recently it has been stumbling. Newer releases have caused developers frequent and painful upgrades, like a total rewrite in 2015 for Angular2, and the use of Typescript poses an obstacle to developers just getting started with it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

React has been available since 2012 from Facebook. It is more lightweight than Angular and is not actually a complete ‘framework’. It needs to rely on other third-party components.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

React has attracted a lot of attention, especially over the last couple of years, and has passed Angular in terms of interest. A survey by Cloud Academy <\/a>found that developers preferred React to Angular and that in smaller companies, React was preferred for work on new projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a recent survey, Cloud Academy<\/a> wrote “so far, we\u2019ve seen React rocket from zero to what appears to be at parity with or overtaking Angular in developer communities. We\u2019ve already seen it overtake Angular among smaller organizations. There is another reason to expect that React\u2019s popularity among developers will spill over into the enterprise over the coming months: its switch in late 2017 to the MIT license.\u201d<\/p>\n
