37 percent of businesses are adopting the use of AI<\/a>, according to a survey by Gartner. Primarily technologists have driven AI initiatives, but the advice from analysts is that without proper steering from the business side, AI projects take on the risk of not focusing on the right problems to solve.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Norm Judah<\/a>, Microsoft Services CTO , said that<\/a> “every company was a software company… but now every company in one form or another is going to be an AI company<\/em>… We have to have leadership from the C-suite to pick the right opportunities, to actually set a mindset of experimentation to actually form a hypothesis, and then evaluate against the hypothesis because we’ve seen that you can enhance customer service, you can improve productivity, reduce manufacturing defects, and the yield on a square meter of farmland.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Microsoft is following through with the idea of getting business executives <\/a>up to speed on how AI technology can be applied to their businesses. They have partnered with INSEAD, a graduate business school with campuses in Europe, Asia and the Middle East to build a business curriculum. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Microsoft AI business school is a concept perhaps similar to how Microsoft and Apple have long pushed their software and devices onto students in the hope that their investment in teaching familiarity with technology eventually will translate to future sales.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mitra Azizirad, vice president at Microsoft, said that \u201cin the case of AI and in the case of culture, the people closest to the business problem you are trying to solve really need to be involved.”<\/p>\n
