Satya Nadella became CEO of Microsoft in 2014<\/a> and over the course of the last five years turned around the direction of Microsoft, making it once again one of the US’s leading tech businesses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How did Nadella manage the turnaround at Microsoft? Similar turnaround attempts at companies like HP and IBM have been at best lackluster<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Immediately after his promotion to CEO, Nadella wrote that<\/a> “our industry does not respect tradition — it only respects innovation. This is a critical time for the industry and for Microsoft. Make no mistake, we are headed for greater places — as technology evolves and we evolve with and ahead of it. Our job is to ensure that Microsoft thrives in a mobile and cloud-first world.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nadella summed up his philosophy saying that<\/a> “You have to get a lot of things right. Know where the world is going. You have to bet right, long before it\u2019s conventional.”<\/p>\n
