Artificial Intelligence (AI) is now beginning to make programming easier. Microsoft has upgraded their type-ahead Intellisense technology in Visual Studio to something they are calling ‘Intellicode<\/a>‘.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Intellicode is the result of AI training with thousands of GitHub projects that have at least 100 stars. The tool provides code completion suggestions and recommendations. It supports C# and XAML, Java, JavaScript, TypeScript and Python.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Intellicode provides code completion, automatic code formatting based on your coding style, and suggests APIs and libraries that could be used based on the context of the code you are writing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

John Montgomery<\/a>, Corporate Vice President at Microsoft, said <\/a>“expect us to push the boundaries of individual and team productivity with capabilities like IntelliCode, where Visual Studio can use Azure to train and deliver AI-powered assistance into the IDE.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ronald Schmelzer<\/a>, analyst at Cognilytica, said that<\/a> Intellicode “aims to both accelerate application development while reducing errors. Or, at least that’s the promise. The idea of AI-assisted application development really hits home in low-code environments where many of the lower-level coding features are abstracted out. There’s definitely a future for AI-assisted app development, [but] there are also some significant hurdles to make sure that it doesn’t develop the same reputation as autocorrect.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n
