These carbon nanotubes consist of hexagonally bound carbon atoms that form chicken-wire like cylinders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/singularityhub.com\/2019\/09\/03\/silicon-is-reaching-its-limits-are-carbon-nanotubes-next\/\">Some are calling carbon nanotubes <\/a>the successor to silicon and speculate that carbon nanotubes may drive another revolution in computers and electronics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In September, researchers from MIT announced the creation of a carbon nanotube microprocessor built with 14,000 nanotubes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/hertzfoundation.org\/fellows\/fellow-profile\/11223\/Max-Shulaker\">Max Shulaker<\/a>, MIT researcher <a href=\"http:\/\/news.mit.edu\/2019\/carbon-nanotubes-microprocessor-0828\">said that<\/a> &#8220;this is by far the most advanced chip made from any emerging nanotechnology that is promising for high-performance and energy-efficient computing. There are limits to silicon. If we want to continue to have gains in computing, carbon nanotubes represent one of the most promising ways to overcome those limits. [The research] completely reinvents how we build chips with carbon nanotubes.&#8221;<\/p>\n<div class=\"lightsocial_container\"><div class=\"lightsocial_element\"><a class=\"lightsocial_a\"
