Content Management: Healthy in a Down Economy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s that time of year.\u00a0 Wintergreen Research <a target=\"_blank\" title=\"Wintergreen ECM report\" href=\"http:\/\/www.live-pr.com\/en\/new-report-just-published-content-management-r1048335154.htm\">has announced<\/a> their assessment of the state of the ECM business.\u00a0 This new report follows in the wake of a slew of other analyst reports on the ECM sector, and Wintergreen&#8217;s numbers fall pretty much in line with that of the other reports.<\/p>\n<p>Wintergreen estimates the ECM market to have been around $3.8 billion in 2007 and for it to reach $9.3 billion by 2014.\u00a0 It is currently growing at the rate of about 19 percent annually.<\/p>\n<p>The factors driving the interest and growth in ECM include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Information is doubling every 7 months and enterprises are looking for technology to help them manage it<\/li>\n<li>To make better informed decisions, companies need to access accurate and up-to-date data more quickly<\/li>\n<li>Companies have a need to automate processes<\/li>\n<li>The need to meet regulatory requirements and provide information in a responsive manner to requests for information<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Wintergreen says that companies interested in starting a Web 2.0 strategy could do well by using ECM as a base.\u00a0 In particular, ECM companies are interested in adopting features like blogs, wikis, and collaboration.\u00a0 ECM can also manage the videos and images that are center to Social Networking and Web 2.0.\u00a0 As people are looking to refresh their technology and move towards greater adoption of web and XML technologies, ECM is there to get them started.<\/p>\n<p><input type=\"hidden\" id=\"gwProxy\" \/><!--Session
