Federal agencies are prime targets to use Robotic Process Automation (RPA) to make their processes more efficient. The GSA has discovered this within their own agency and has announced publication of a generic framework which other agencies can use as a starting point for their own RPA implementations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The GSA is calling their recommendations and example code the RPA Playbook<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gerard Badorrek<\/a>, GSA CFO, wrote that<\/a> “current RPA programs operating within agencies are achieving roughly five hours of workload elimination per employee. If the government deployed RPA at scale and achieved only 20 hours of workload elimination per employee, the net capacity gained would be worth $3 billion — and that is only scratching the surface.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Badorrek said that<\/a> “The objective was to bring together agencies who wanted to learn about RPA, but also that were successful in RPA. The two things we wanted to do were \u2014 one, we wanted to solve problems that were common across government and come up with solutions. And the second is educating agencies about RPA.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Badorrek said “All agencies are charged with pursuing workload elimination, and RPA provides a low-cost tool to make an immediate impact. The opportunity for RPA to transform federal operations is massive.”<\/p>\n
