IT Spending: Gartner Reassesses Global IT Spending for 2022
Gartner has recently released a summer estimate for Global IT spending in 2022. Total 2022 IT spending is expected to exceed $4.5 trillion. Compared to the 2022 spending estimates released in April, the new numbers are relatively flat or slightly less than the previous ones.
John-David Lovelock, research vice president at Gartner, said that “inflation is top of mind for everyone. Central banks worldwide are focusing on fighting inflation, with overall inflation rates expected to be reduced through the end of 2023. However, the current levels of volatility being seen in both inflation and currency exchange rates are not expected to deter CIOs’ investment plans for 2022. Organizations that do not invest in the short term will likely fall behind in the medium term and risk not being around in the long term.”
