All Formtek Engineering Data Management (EDM) extension products are now available for both Alfresco 3.4.x and Alfresco 4.0 platforms.

The components of the Formtek EDM Solution include:

  • The Formtek Engineering Data Management (EDM) Module – Provides a pre-configured content model for engineering drawing and document types, and automatic conversion of AutoCAD® DWG, DWF, and DXF file types to Flash SWF and PNG thumbnail images for viewing in Alfresco Share
  • The Formtek EDM Data Extractor – Can extract any properties defined in DWG or DXF files, including title block attributes, and map those properites into an Alfresco content model, such as the one defined by the EDM module.  The extraction and mapping occurs automatically on the upload of documents to the repository.
  • The Formtek EDM Connector for AutoCAD – An AutoCAD plugin that allows users to interact with the Alfresco content repository directly from AutoCAD.  For example, from the AutoCAD client, users can directly browse the Alfresco repository, view and edit document/drawing metadata, and upload, checkin and checkout documents from the repository.

These Formtek products for Alfresco are available on an annual subscription basis.  Server components of the solution run on either the Windows or Linux operating system.  The AutoCAD Connector runs on a Windows client that has AutoCAD software installed.
