PLM: A Small Step Towards PLM Standards

By Dick Weisinger

The first PLM Retail Standards Committee was recently announced by Tradestone Software.  That’s great news for the world of PLM where standards are sorely lacking.  Members of the new committee include retailers like Kohl’s, Macy’s, Lowe’s, Urban Outfitters and Pacific Sunwear.

Creating a PLM standards committee has great merit, but when the onion is peeled back, we see that all the retailers on the new committee are users of Tradestone’s PLM software, the new group seems to be more of external steering committee for the next feature set in Tradestone software.

A goal for the group is to come up with a set of standard processes and data representations so that the time to market for new products can be accelerated.
