SaaS: Acceptance Surges Globally

By Dick Weisinger

SaaS is doing well in the US, but its success isn’t limited to US boundaries.  Phil Wainwright reports that three-quarters of businesses in France and Germany are using SaaS, about 66 percent of UK businesses, and 85 percent of Spanish businesses.

Computerworld reports of European companies like Germany’s Jedox AG which saw 50 percent growth, and Finland’s PlanMill which grew 90 percent.

But Symantec’s Chief Scientist Guy Bunker pointed out that many European companies may be restricted because of strict laws of using SaaS and cloud services. And that could put a damper on some of the growth of SaaS in Europe.  For some countries it may be important to consider the legal system which governs their cloud service provider.
