SOA: 100% Satisfaction Guaranteed?

By Dick Weisinger

While not all the press about SOA has been positive this year, a new survey by Forrester Research of 2227 IT executive decision-makers finds that only one percent of them reported a negative experience with  SOA.  Such a high level of satisfaction is almost unheard of for anything.  75 percent of these exectuives  will newly deploy SOA by the end of 2009, and 60 percent of those who are already using SOA plan to expand their use of SOA this year.

The report finds that organization size has a lot to do with the decision to adopt SOA.  Few companies with less than 1000 employees have taken on SOA.  Randy Heffner of Forrester said that “No prior industry initiative for IT architecture has had an impact as positive and as broad reaching as service-oriented architecture.”   Much more so than previous IT initiatives, SOA has distinct benefits and advantages for both the business and technical sides of the house, and that is really what is fueling its growth.
