Enterprise Software: Working Remotely Requires Robust Digital Infrastructure

By Dick Weisinger

The COVID-19 crisis has forced business conventions to change as employees shifted to remote work. Once the crisis is over, nearly three-quarters of CFOs say that they expect that previously on-site employees will continue to work from home, according to Gartner.

Alexander Bant, vice president at Gartner, said that “most CFOs recognize that technology and society has evolved to make remote work more viable for a wider variety of positions than ever before. Within the finance function itself, 90% of CFOs previously reported to us that they expect minimal disruptions to their accounting close process, with almost all activities able to be executed off-site.”

But how can remote workers be most productive? It’s only possible when the business has invested in a robust digital infrastructure.

Sandy Shen, senior digital analyst at Gartner, said that “this really should be a wake-up call for organisations that spend too much time focusing on daily operational needs at the expense of investing in digital business and long-term resilience.”
