Technology: What's in Store for 2010
Yesterday Forrester Research announced an upward forecast for the global IT economy. Today Gartner released a list of top 2010 predictions that will be affecting IT organizations.
- By 2012, 20 percent of businesses will not own any IT assets other than user workstations and notebooks. The trend going forward will be for businesses to continually shed more of their hardware assets.
- By 2012, 20 percent of cloud services will originate from India. India will leverage their IT expertise and attempt to continue their rapid growth by expanding with SaaS offerings.
- By 2012, Facebook will establish complete dominance in the area of Social Networking.
- By 2013, the number of people accessing the internet via mobile devices will exceed the number of people accessing via PCs. In 2013 there will be 1.78 billion PCs compared with 1.82 billion browser-equipped mobile devices.
- By 2015, 3 billion users will be able to make electronic transactions via mobile and internet technologies.
- By 2015, users will be doing less searching to find content as vendors will more and more reach out and personalize their interactions with users. There will be a change from pull to push of information.
