Social Media: Google Ranks as Most Social Company

Oxford Communications has has a great infographic report on social networks and their use across US industries.  The company created an index that they’re calling NPSI, the NetProspex Social Index, and using that, have sliced and diced the social usage across  companies.

The NPSI takes into account:

  • Social Connectedness — number of employees with at least one social profile
  • Social freiendliness and reach – average number of connections per employee across social networks
  • Social Activity – Average number of tweets, number of followers and followings

They found that the most social companies in the US are:

  1. Google
  2. Microsoft
  3. Amazon
  4. Juniper Networks
  5. Adobe

And among industries, the ranking was:

  1. Search Engine companies
  2. Advertising and Marketing
  3. Banking
  4. Media — TV, Radio, Newspaper
  5. Toys and Games
  6. HR and Recruiting
  7. IT
  8. Software
  9. Consumer Elextronics
  10. Retail Apparel
